SAFETY POLICY
Date: 1-15-04
The management of Technical Specialty Systems is genuinely committed to the health and safety of its employees. Protection of employees from injury or occupational disease is a major continuing objective, and plays a key role in project planning. Technical Specialty Systems will make every effort to provide a safe, healthy work environment. All supervisors and workers must be dedicated to the continuing objective of reducing risk of injury.
The health and safety of each and every employee, of others who might be exposed to any risk during the performance of a project and of the general public must be a priority in all planning for, and in the execution of the work. We, management and staff, must all work together to ensure the reduction of all hazards, to ensure that proper protection from hazardous materials, areas and activities is in place, and develop pro-active attitudes to the safe management and execution of all work conducted by Technical Specialty Systems.
Technical Specialty Systems, as employer, is ultimately responsible for worker health and safety. Management promises that every reasonable precaution will be taken for the protection of workers.
Supervisors will be held accountable for the health and safety of workers under their supervision. Supervisors are responsible to ensure that machinery, equipment and access structures and equipment -- scaffold, swing stages and the like -- are safe and that workers work in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures. Workers must receive adequate training in their specific tasks to protect their health and safety.
Every worker must protect their own health and safety by working in compliance with the law and with safe work practices and procedures established by the company. It is expected that every worker shall use common sense in all activities and not engage in any activity with which they are unfamiliar without proper training and supervision. In such cases, every worker is expected to seek instruction prior to operating any equipment or engaging in any activity that might involve risk. New workers or inexperienced workers are not to perform any activity or attend any location without authorization from the site supervisor.
It is in the best interest of all parties to consider health and safety in every activity. Commitment to health and safety must form an important part of this organization, from the General Manager to all employees and subcontractors.
